Frank Welker


Franklin Wendell Frank Welker is an American actor, who for most of his career has specialized as a voice actor, best known for his role as Megatron in the Transformers franchise specifically Transformers G1 and Transformers Prime, as well as Fred Jones and ScoobyDoo from the ScoobyDoo franchise since its conception in 1969. He is also best known for being the current voice of Garfield the cat in The Garfield Show and in other Garfield projects since 2007.

Welker was born in Denver, Colorado, on March 12, 1946. He then moved to California and attended Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California, where he majored in Theatrical Arts. In 1966, he received honors for his performance as the Cowardly Lion in the colleges theater production of The Wizard of Oz. During his transition between college and his voice acting career, his first voiceover role was in a commercial for Friskies dog food. The producers girlfriend informed him of auditioning for HannaBarbera during the casting of ScoobyDoo, Where Are You! where he initially auditioned for the title character but instead won the role of Fred Jones.
